Selected Sound® is a new sports exhaust technology by HEICO SPORTIV.

Have you ever dreamt of more sound for your Volvo? Then HEICO SPORTIV has the answer! In its downsizing strategy, Volvo has placed its bets on small, efficient four-cylinder engines. But this trend towards improved efficiency also impairs sound and emotion. HEICO SPORTIV has taken up this challenge and is now offering Selected Sound®, an innovative sport exhaust system which boosts Volvo vehicle engine sound. With delivery including an EC type approval, it naturally also conforms with the German Road Vehicle Licensing Act (StVZO)!

Selected Sound® is based on the following principle: the HEICO SPORTIV e.motion® control unit passes driving characteristic-relevant data – such as speed, rpm, load status and accelerator position – from the CAN-BUS directly to a sound processor. This is, in turn, connected to a stainless-steel end muffler and an actuator. The actuator converts the electrical signals into acoustic signals, thereby generating the desired acoustic pattern of a burly V8 engine.

Switching between the standard four-cylinder sound or pure eight-cylinder indulgence is realized by choice of Drive Mode selector. The HEICO SPORTIV e.motion® control unit automatically enables Selected Sound® when the vehicle starts to move.

The system is disabled in Drive Mode ECO. If desired, Selected Sound® can also be enabled in Drive Mode DYNAMIC only. This Selected Sound® system can be combined with all rear skirt variants.
